Health promotion & prevention

At the starting weekend in Zurich in November 2024, the five key areas were presented to the participants with the aim of selecting one for further discussion. This additional thematic narrowing was necessary to ensure that the Citizens’ Assembly could make the best possible use of its time and focus on specific questions within a single policy area.

In a first step, the participants prioritized the five topics in the following order:

  1. Coordination of care (PDF, 849 KB)

  2. Health promotion and prevention (PDF, 609 KB)

  3. Hospitals (PDF, 648 KB)

  4. Basic insurance (PDF, 765 KB)

  5. Expansion of services (PDF, 584 KB)

In a second step, a run-off vote was held between the two top-ranked topics, “Coordination of healthcare provision” and “Health promotion & prevention.” In this vote, 60% of the participants present chose “Health promotion & prevention” for further in-depth discussion.

An information sheet with an argumentarium, prepared by experts, provided the substantive basis for the subsequent discussions. In its results, the Citizens’ Assembly compiled information on “Health promotion & prevention” that is essential for discussing this topic.
