Contribution of the Citizens’ Assembly on the topic of ehalth promotion and prevention

With its work, the Citizens’ Assembly aims to ensure that, 

• the preservation of health is given greater importance (moving away from disease towards health).

• healthcare costs are reduced in the long term.

• the Citizens’ Assembly can have an impact by …

  • Parliament and the Federal Government engaging with the results and taking a position on them.

  • the Citizens’ Assembly initiates reforms and new initiatives.

  • the Citizens’ Assembly continues to be used to accompany the implementation of proposals and to reflect new ideas (echo group).

• the population is able to strengthen its own skills (self-competence) and behave in a healthy way. To do so, citizens must be sufficiently informed and motivated to address their own health.

• the topic of health promotion and prevention is advanced in a coordinated manner; among other things, by granting more competences to the Federal Government.

• the share of expenditure on health promotion and prevention – relative to total healthcare expenditure – is increased.

• the population can live and work in a healthy environment.
